About The Position

The Reception and Treatment Center is seeking a maintenance worker to perform daily and routine maintenance throughout our facility. Requirements

Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade.
Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.

Responsibilities

Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance.
Perform skilled carpentry work in the major renovation and construction of building structures; construct, alter, maintain, and repair buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture and cabinets.
Schedule and perform specialized preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery to ensure the necessary inspection, adjustment, and replacement of parts.
Responsible for supervising inmates working in the maintenance department.
Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts.
Maintain accurate tool logs.
Maintain an extensive array of tools and follow all policies and procedures relating to tool control and purchasing of tools, equipment, and parts.
Responsible for maintenance related purchases and statement reconciliation.
