About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking a Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor to lead a clinical team at the Reception and Treatment Center (RTC) in Lincoln. This role is central to our mission to "Keep People Safe" by managing mental health services within a correctional environment. Core responsibilities include clinical leadership, program management, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Behavioral Heath Practitioner Supervisor I: Nebraska License as Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
  • Behavioral Heath Practitioner Supervisor II: State of Nebraska licenses as Mental Health Practitioner and Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
  • Behavioral Heath Practitioner Supervisor I: Licensure requirements pursuant to Nebraska State Statutes 38-2122 and 38-316.
  • Behavioral Heath Practitioner Supervisor II: Licensure requirements pursuant to Nebraska State Statutes 38-2122, 38-2124 and 38-316.
  • Proof of licensure and transcripts required upon acceptance of a job offer.
  • Must submit a security background check.
  • Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical exam and a drug test.
  • Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Training Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy and substance use treatment to male incarcerated individuals.
  • Maintains timely and accurate clinical records, including progress notes, assessments, and treatment activity logs.
  • Lead/participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop, review, and update comprehensive individual treatment plans.
  • Trains employees and subordinate staff on the core principles, policies, and practices of substance use counseling.
  • Provides required weekly clinical supervision for Provisionally Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (PLADCs) and monthly supervision for LADCs.
  • Establishes evaluation standards, conducts performance reviews, and provides regular counseling and conferring with staff.
  • Oversees the planning, organization, and coordination of substance use treatment operations, including setting goals and developing action plans.
  • Identifies and requests necessary staffing, materials, and equipment to maintain program efficiency.
  • Communicates treatment methods to concerned parties and solicits feedback to refine and improve treatment.
  • Utilizes evidence-based interventions and strategies tailored specifically to the assigned population.
