About The Position

M&H Valve Company is hiring a full-time Maintenance Specialist B for a multi-craft industrial maintenance role. The position performs work across two or more industrial maintenance areas, follows job-specific instructions and standardized practices, and works under limited supervision. An alternate path may emphasize either electrical or mechanical maintenance. The electrical path requires intermediate-to-advanced electrical and PLC troubleshooting knowledge; the mechanical path requires in-depth hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting knowledge. The role is responsible for safe work practices and maintaining a safe, healthy workplace. It includes inspecting and testing equipment to diagnose malfunctions; planning repairs from technical documentation; obtaining and transporting supplies; dismantling, repairing, installing, and maintaining machinery; recording maintenance information; completing CMMS work orders; coordinating with supervisors and other trades; supporting continuous improvement and root-cause analysis; and using rigging with cranes and hoists. The advanced mechanical path includes interpreting complex machine drawings and hydraulic and pneumatic schematics; assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding equipment and systems; cutting and welding components; aligning couplings; and maintaining pumps, conveyor belts, and drive systems. The advanced electrical path includes maintaining and installing industrial control systems, conduit and wiring, evaluating electrical systems, troubleshooting circuits and basic I/O, interpreting E&I documentation, wiring control stations and switches, and installing or replacing soft starters and VFDs. The work involves a manufacturing environment with exposure to varied temperatures, humidity, moving machinery, dust, fumes, gases, odors, vibration, and varying noise levels. The employee must be able to meet the listed physical demands, including regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and entering confined spaces.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret varied technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including regularly standing and using hands; frequently reaching; occasionally walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and smelling; regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds; and entering confined spaces.
  • Advanced mechanical path: proficiency in cutting and welding components and passing a written competency exam in mechanical maintenance, emphasizing pneumatics and hydraulics involving valves, pumps, and motors.
  • Advanced electrical path: knowledge and ability to work on 240–480-volt three-phase power and 24–120-volt controls; passing a written competency exam emphasizing circuits, motor controls, multi-phase motors, power distribution, PLC ladder logic, and troubleshooting.
