About The Position

Our Maintenance Engineer/Security is composed and professional, and handles issues and emergencies with efficiency and care. They are observant and proactive, ensuring that the hotel is safe for guests and associates. Whenever something isn’t working, they are the ones everyone calls. They are not only reactive, they are continually looking for the little details that need to be fixed, and persistently maintaining equipment daily to ensure it always is running well. This full time overnight position typically is scheduled from 11:00pm until 7:00am.

  • Ability to handle associate and guests conflicts or disturbances.

  • Ability to gather evidence and conduct interviews during investigations.
  • Ability to lock property entrances when required.
  • Ability to complete a shift summary report.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all security and property reports.
  • Ability to maintain the interior and exterior of the hotel.
  • Ability to respond to guest maintenance requests courteously, promptly, and resolve matters to the guest’s satisfaction.
  • Ability to maintain order in the hotel and deal with guest welfare.
  • Ability to assist with door lock problems.
  • Ability to coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions.
  • Ability to handle undesired conduct and potential violations of hotel policy.
  • Ability to watch for suspicious persons.
  • Ability to conduct walk through observations of the entire hotel.
  • Thorough knowledge of building systems, emergency response, and building documentation including reading standard blue prints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
  • Working knowledge and skills in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and/or general building management.
  • Ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
  • Ability to program TVs.
  • Ability to perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  • Ability to assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement.
  • Ability to perform complete and thorough clean-up of painting or repair areas.
  • Knowledge of company and department safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Material Management Program.
  • Ability to use the Lockout/Tag-out system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Ability to use correct lifting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little or no supervision.
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical and safety condition of facilities with daily walk through of the building in order to determine the type of work required.
  • Note safety hazards, lack of illumination, broken equipment (such as ice makers, fans, extractors, pumps), areas needing painting, repair work, renovations and the issues with furniture and equipment.
  • Communicate areas that need attention for assignment, or take immediate corrective action when needed.
  • Assist guests with room access.
  • Notify the Police Department, Fire Department, Chief Engineer, General Manager, and appropriate individuals, in an emergency or unusual situation.
  • Handle associate and guests conflicts or disturbances.
  • Complete incident reports with details and ensure Executive Team receives a copy of the written report.
  • In the event of an investigation, gather evidence and conduct interviews with relevant parties.
  • Lock property entrances when required.
  • Complete a shift summary report.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all security and property reports.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the hotel including but not limited to; guest rooms, public restrooms, fixtures, vending areas, storage areas and other designated items as needed.
  • Responding to guests maintenance requests courteously, promptly, and resolving matters to the guest’s satisfaction.
  • Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, and assisting with door lock problems.
  • Coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, fire or safety hazards and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner.
  • Handle undesired conduct and potential violations of hotel policy as warranted for the security and safety of hotel guests, associates, patrons and property.
  • Watch for suspicious persons entering, exiting, or loitering around building.
  • Conduct walk through observations of entire hotel.
  • Display thorough knowledge of building systems, emergency response, and building documentation including reading standard blue prints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
  • Display working knowledge and skills the following: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and/or general building management.

  • Use the Lockout/Tag-out system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Use correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
