About The Position

As a Maintenance Representative at Homestead, you will help us to maintain the safety and the day-to-day maintenance operations of the property. This includes completing routine inspections, responding to resident work orders, and performing general repairs. You will help maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for residents and visitors while following established maintenance procedures and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Previous professional maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg (e.g., trash bags, cleaning equipment)
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and safe work practices are essential
  • Computer proficient

  • Organized and able to handle multiple projects

Responsibilities

  • Process work orders for the site ensuring work orders are inputted, prioritized, and closed accordingly.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all work order submissions for the assigned site.
  • Log maintenance requests and involve other members of the team to effectively resolve resident work orders.
  • Under direction of the Manager, schedule repairs with contractors and provide notice of entries to residents to complete work.
  • Perform daily audit of outstanding work orders and follow up on progress.
  • Close completed work orders within Homestead's online Maintenance Portal.
  • Inventory materials and submit orders to replenish stock.
  • Change faucets, taps, toilets, valves, showerheads, tap washers, plunge toilets, use a snake, change a P trap, flex line, leaks etc.
  • Change smoke detectors, light switches, fluorescent tubes, receptacles, fuses, fixtures, ceiling fans, stove elements, oven elements etc.
  • Test a generator
  • Change counter tops, door locks, mail locks, doors, closets, cupboards, shelves, door closers, cabinets, kick plates, towel bars, hinges, drawer slides, cracks/holes in dry wall etc.
  • Conduct maintenance walks weekly
  • Repair and report all common area deficiencies including: faulty door closures, light bulbs, plaster blisters, graffiti and vandalism, tile repairs, carpet repairs, etc
  • Re-set fire alarms, operate fire extinguisher,
  • Inspect fire system and complete daily and weekly fire log book
