Maintenance Repairman 2 - North Central Secure Treatment Unit
About The Position
Step into a hands-on role as a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the North Central Secure Treatment Unit. This position allows you to apply your trade skills to support the upkeep and operation of buildings, grounds, and equipment. You strengthen daily operations by completing a wide range of repair and maintenance projects that keep the facility running smoothly. Join a team that values craftsmanship, teamwork, and dedication. This position supports the daily and long-term maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment within the youth development center/youth forestry camp (YDC/YFC) system by performing skilled work in several trades.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
- Meet the PA residency requirement.
- Able to perform essential job functions.
- Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry, plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, masonry, and painting tasks as assigned
- Install and repair fixtures, appliances, tools, and equipment used throughout the facility
- Repair doors, windows, roofs, partitions, and other building components
- Complete lawn care, snow removal, and upkeep of outdoor areas and fencing
- Maintain accountability of tools and materials and report missing items immediately
- Guide semi-skilled workers by assisting with assignments and demonstrating proper work methods
