About The Position

As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of General Services, you will help ensure that essential building systems stay safe and dependable. This role gives you the chance to work independently, learn from experienced tradespersons, and take pride in work that directly supports employees and visitors. You will use your abilities in several trades to keep equipment functioning properly and respond to issues quickly. Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
  • Able to perform essential job functions

  • Available to work a flexible schedule due to 24/7 shifts (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Responsibilities

  • Access building automation systems and track conditions to support maintenance activities
  • Review equipment alarms and comfort concerns by checking temperatures, noises, connections, and parts
  • Complete routine HVAC upkeep such as replacing filters, cleaning components, and greasing mechanical parts
  • Support higher level staff with troubleshooting airflow, refrigerant flow, and electrical issues
  • Determine parts and supplies required for maintenance projects and submit needs to the supervisor
  • Monitor assigned buildings and equipment to ensure discrepancies are reported and addressed
