Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training in skilled building construction, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aquastats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as they relate to repair of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steamfitting or pipefitting, refrigeration or HVAC, painting, roofing or tinsmithing, drywall or plasterer work, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to keep buildings, equipment, and grounds in proper working condition.
  • Support daily operations by completing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general upkeep tasks across the installation.
  • Install ceilings, flooring, doors, insulation, and structural features.
  • Install and repair toilets, faucets, sinks, pipes, valves, and seals.
  • Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and complete interior and exterior painting projects.
  • Replace switches, outlets, ballasts, and bulbs, and run wire or conduit when needed.
  • Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, plant flowers, and keep outdoor areas clear of debris.
  • Care for tools and machinery through cleaning, adjustments, and preventive repairs.
