About The Position

The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, North Central Secure Treatment Unit (NCSTU) provides dedicated, high-quality care to at-risk youth residents. This position supports resident health and medical needs through organized care, clear communication, and timely action. It involves working closely with medical providers, program staff, and residents to ensure all care requirements are met.

Requirements

Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
If possessing an active temporary practice permit, must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one (1) year
Must be able to perform essential job functions
Conditional offer of employment requires satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test
Conditional offer of employment requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

Responsibilities

Prepare, administer, and track medications for residents while following established procedures
Arrange and maintain resident medical, dental, optometry, and psychiatric appointments
Maintain accurate medical records, review bills, and ensure all documentation is complete
Communicate essential medical needs to staff and collaborate with medical providers and treatment teams
Check medical supplies, monitor resident health needs, and report unusual behaviors or concerns
Provide immediate care to residents or employees until additional medical help arrives
