About The Position

This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent of the Sheet Metal Shop, which is part of the Facility Maintenance Department. As a classified position, it is responsible for roof maintenance, including cleaning and minor repairs of roofs, gutters, downspouts, and drains. The role may also be assigned to carpentry and maintenance projects as needed. Additionally, this position involves working with and directing Maintenance Repairer 1 positions and requires the understanding and safe operation of large man-lift equipment.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Will require an MVR
  • Subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
  • This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position.
  • These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
  • This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
  • Must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain that valid work authorization throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Check buildings for rain leaks.
  • Clean and make minor repairs to roofs.
  • Clean gutters and downspouts.
  • Make minor repairs to gutters and downspouts.
  • Clean roof drains and make minor repairs to roof drain covers.
  • Work as a Sheet Metal helper, assisting in fabricating and installing roof flashing.
  • Clean and repair metal roofs.
  • Help fabricate and install gutters, metal awnings, downspouts, conductor heads, exhaust grilles, and duct.
  • Help fabricate and install pans for air handlers, machine guards for air handling equipment, and louvers on buildings.
  • Work as a Carpenter helper, assisting in repairing and installing floors, doors, walls, and ceilings.
  • Repair fences, perform demolition, haul materials to jobsites, and clean up construction debris.
  • Work as a Painter/Plasterer helper, assisting in repairing all types of plaster, demolition, hauling materials, and clean up.
  • Paint surfaces as needed.
  • Operate heavy equipment & machinery (such as large man-lifts, scissor-lifts, fork-lifts, & large trucks with trailers).
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and support to Maintenance Repairer 1 employees when required.
  • Perform other related duties as required including emergency work when required.
