About The Position

The Maintenance Repairer 2 will perform semi-skilled work in the erection, repair, and maintenance of buildings and equipment. The incumbent will also assist in the preventative maintenance program. It is the responsibility of the employee in this position to comply with all agency and maintenance sections’ policies, rules, written procedures, instructions, and regulations. Safety procedures must be followed when performing assigned tasks. Maintenance will be provided to the Administrative and Annex office buildings, five (5) other agency-owned buildings in the Baton Rouge area, and five (5) agency-owned buildings located statewide.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
  • Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
  • Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned tasks in the preventative maintenance program in the Baton Rouge area and area offices located statewide.
  • Services, repairs, and replaces mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, A/C systems, air handling units, hot water heaters, steam coils, traps, and all other HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Performs electrical installation and repairs within the agency buildings (receptacles, breaker panels, lights, ballasts, coax and IBM cables, MCC cables, and other electrical items).
  • Performs plumbing duties, including installing, altering, maintaining, and repairing water lines, fixtures, commodes, sinks, urinals, valves, make-up tanks, and chill water lines.
  • Performs tasks related to door hardware, door locks, and cubicle locks.
  • Maintains the key stock and lock stock.
  • Performs painting tasks such as preparing surfaces to be painted and painting those surfaces, such as brick walls, sheet-rock walls, and equipment.
  • Works with Telephone and Electronic Tech as needed.
  • Maintains supplies, tools, and equipment in agency stock.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required by the supervisor.
