About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for Maintenance Repair Worker 3 (Grounds), Facilities Management. Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: maintenance of campus grounds, with work relating to parking lot and sidewalk maintenance; assist other trades regarding underground installation and general repairs; operate light to medium equipment, to include backhoe, trencher, forklift, dump truck, compactor, core drill power saw, street sweeper and steam pressure washer; repairs to existing or installation of concrete or other cast surfaces, to include grading, compacting, forming, pouring, finishing and setting pavers; installation of both cold and hot asphalt using proper application techniques; maintenance and repair of outdoor fixtures, to include fences (block and chain link); installation of various types of signage (concrete, directional, and roadway).

Requirements

  • Two years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A valid class C driver’s license is required at the time of appointment
  • All certifications and licenses must be kept current as a condition of continued employment
  • Forklift Certification, Dust Control, and Boom Lift within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities
