About The Position

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Worker 3 for the Facilities and Grounds Department. The position will perform a wide variety of landscape and gardening duties. Duties include, but are not limited to: planting, pruning; mowing, trimming, watering, and fertilizing; applying herbicide; weeding; operating hand power tools and light mechanized equipment such as power mowers, tractor mowers, trenchers and forklifts; maintaining grounds areas clean and free of trash, fallen leaves, snow and ice; operating light, medium and heavy equipment such as pickup trucks, tractors, trash compactors and loaders; maintaining parking lots and roads by patching asphalt, paint striping and installing appropriate signage; and other duties as assigned. Requirements

One (1) year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment, and techniques; OR Six (6) months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker II in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of landscape and gardening duties.
Planting and pruning.
Mowing, trimming, watering, and fertilizing.
Applying herbicide.
Weeding.
Operating hand power tools and light mechanized equipment such as power mowers, tractor mowers, trenchers and forklifts.
Maintaining grounds areas clean and free of trash, fallen leaves, snow and ice.
Operating light, medium and heavy equipment such as pickup trucks, tractors, trash compactors and loaders.
Maintaining parking lots and roads by patching asphalt, paint striping and installing appropriate signage.
Other duties as assigned.
