About The Position

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in industries such as petrochemical, refining, energy, and pulp and paper. Turner Industries Group is seeking Maintenance Millwrights for nested long-term maintenance at a site in the Pasadena, TX area. This position requires local candidates to the Houston area as there is no per diem or relocation available. The role involves troubleshooting, overhauling, and installing rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gearboxes, electric motors, fans, and blowers, with a specific focus on ANSI and API centrifugal pumps. The job also includes thorough recordkeeping of as-found and as-left clearances after seal replacements or pump rebuilds. Experience with single-stage steam turbine maintenance is a plus. A background check and drug test are required.

Requirements

  • Previous maintenance experience is required.
  • Must have 4 years minimum work experience as a Millwright.
  • Must have OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87).
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place.

Nice To Haves

  • NCCER preferred.
  • Experience working on extruders, pumps, and poly cylindrical strand cutters.
  • Experience with single stage steam turbine maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, overhaul, and install rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gearboxes, electric motors, fans, and blowers.
  • Install and/or maintain machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, and written instructions.
  • Dismantle machines and move machinery and equipment.
  • Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers.
  • Align machines and equipment using the reverse alignment method.
  • Assemble machines and fasten them to foundation or other structures by bolting, welding, riveting, or other methods.
  • Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
  • Be involved in grouting activity for equipment base plates.
  • Record as-found and as-left clearances after a seal replacement or pump rebuild job.
