The Maintenance Mechanic performs duties to set up, repair, and maintain press line equipment. This role involves working from blueprints, manuals, schedules, and instructions to set up and maintain equipment such as punch presses, conveyor systems, component liners, curlers, and automatic tape machines. The mechanic will set tooling, make equipment adjustments, operate equipment, run sample units, and make necessary operating adjustments. They will also instruct and assist operators, troubleshoot and repair equipment, diagnose problems, disassemble, determine repair needs, obtain parts, assemble, test, and make repairs. Maintaining equipment includes cleaning, lubricating, and servicing automatic lube systems. The role also involves monitoring press line operations, checking the quality of produced units, and filling out required maintenance records. Additional responsibilities include notifying supervisors of unusual problems, assisting operators during breaks, using precision measuring instruments and various tools, and following safety rules to maintain a clean work area. As a skilled specialist, this position completes tasks resourcefully, works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative, understands work implications, and makes recommendations for solutions. A majority of critical thinking tasks can be completed effectively.
