About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic assists with maintaining and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveying systems and other industrial equipment in a poultry processing plant. The role performs preventative and predictive maintenance, using blueprints and diagrams to ensure equipment operates within required specifications and tolerances. Duties may also include inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs. Work must comply with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Pass the NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1.
At least 1 year of experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance, or demonstrated applicable mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Intermediate math and computer skills.
Ability to operate and use basic hand and power tools.
Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.

Responsibilities

Repair industrial machinery and perform preventative maintenance using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment operates safely and to required specifications.
Identify the root cause of basic mechanical issues and perform repairs through welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting, or replacing defective components; notify appropriate personnel when further attention is required.
Identify and correct unsafe conditions, and report conditions that cannot be corrected independently.
Help maintain files of blueprints, operating manuals, and procedures as needed.
Follow company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs, and wear required personal protective equipment.
