About The Position

Gorton’s is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic Level 1 for its new processing facility in Lebanon, Indiana. The position works closely with production, quality, and sanitation teams to keep plant operations running through on-time preventive maintenance and timely repairs. The role includes troubleshooting and repairing building, plant, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment; using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); welding; and coordinating with colleagues, vendors, and the maintenance planner. The position follows food-industry BRC requirements. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. The hourly rate is $40.25.

Requirements

Five years of electrical experience and experience with PLCs.
Five years of industrial maintenance experience.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement best practices and work with high levels of ambiguity.
Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
Motivated, takes pride in work, and can work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Ability to lift 50–60 pounds.

Responsibilities

Locate and check out maintenance parts and materials from the stockroom.
Troubleshoot building HVAC and plant electrical equipment.
Use the CMMS to complete and create work orders.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot PLC programs and electrical and mechanical issues.
Weld using TIG, MIG, and stick welding processes.
Submit requisitions for parts with low stock quantities.
Follow BRC requirements for food-industry standards.
Complete building and production repairs in a timely manner.
Communicate openly with team members about equipment repairs and preventive maintenance schedules.
Participate in daily pass-down meetings.
Collaborate with the maintenance planner to identify parts needed for repairs and rebuilds.
Collaborate with vendors to build relationships and identify cost-saving opportunities.
