About The Position

GILLIG is seeking a Journeyperson Maintenance Mechanic, also known as an Industrial Maintenance Technician, to join their team. This role involves troubleshooting electrical issues, problem-solving, performing daily preventive maintenance, repairing equipment, and fabricating parts to maintain the facility and manufacturing machinery. The position requires the ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical diagrams and technical repair manuals. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing various processing and manufacturing equipment such as air compressors, conveyors, industrial fans, electric motors, electric/pneumatic tools, and gearboxes. The technician will also be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing automated machinery, including familiarity with VFDs, gearboxes, reducers, pumps, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. The role demands the ability to quickly switch between assignments, complete duties with minimal supervision, and apply knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Experience with industrial material handling equipment like overhead cranes, rigging, forklifts, and boom lifts is necessary, as is knowledge of fabrication and machine tools including oxy-acetylene torch/welding equipment, various welding techniques, drill presses, band saws, and plate shears. Understanding OSHA regulations and ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality specifications are also key aspects of this position. The role requires a willingness to share knowledge with coworkers and maintain a safe, productive work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3-5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing /industrial environment
  • Strong ability in all areas of electrical maintenance, including 3-phase motors, variable frequency drives, controls, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Demonstrates competency by passing skill test(s)
  • Proficient with power tools
  • Must have own basic set of tools and the skill in the use and care of those tools
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical diagrams and technical repair manuals
  • Knowledge of process automation equipment: Proximity Switches, Transformers, Relay’s, Limit Switches, HMI’s and PLC’s within a manufacturing environment
  • Union Participation is required

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of fabrication and machine tools: OxyAce torch/welding equipment, Welding (SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW), Drill Press, Band Saws, Plate Shear
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and implementation of safety regulations
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes are capable with respect to quality specifications
  • Willing to share ideas, techniques, and procedures with coworkers
  • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and repair as necessary
  • Making steel fabrications via measuring, cutting, bending and welding
  • General repair of processing/manufacturing equipment
