About The Position

Under supervision, perform mechanical maintenance and preventative maintenance work. Diagnose and repair gas, diesel and heavy equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and general plant equipment or other tasks as assigned. Coordinate with other maintenance personnel and production crews as needed. Work on special projects with Maintenance Mechanic and/or Plant Manager. Fabricate new equipment, modify existing equipment as needed. Maintain Power equipment: Forklifts, manlifts. Work with other mechanics repairing equipment as needed. Perform general maintenance duties throughout facility. Help maintain safety, environmental and other equipment and programs as needed. Troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery. Perform preventative maintenance on machinery. Perform inspections on fire system, water system, and cranes. Design and build new equipment for various processes. Modify old equipment as processes change. Work with Plant Manager on projects.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
  • Basic communication skills: interpersonal, written, and verbal.
  • Ability to deal with all levels and associates.
  • Ability to read instruction and parts manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, or electronics.
  • Experience working on diesel engines and equipment: motors & forklifts.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, mobile and stationary equipment in plant, and drill press.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Peripheral vision.
  • Depth perception.
  • Ability to adjust visual focus.
  • Subject to noise: sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Subject to hazards: proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Subject to vibration.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • Subject to oils: air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
  • Required to wear a respirator.
  • Frequently in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small, enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical education and/or training is preferred.
  • 1 – 3 years of Production Manufacturing maintenance support is highly regarded.
