About The Position

To thrive as a Maintenance Mechanic with Behr, you must have exceptional troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude. Using a variety of tools, including soldering equipment, drills, measuring devices, and various hand tools, you will diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical issues for our equipment. You must be able to read work orders and schematic drawings, be able to operate a forklift and always work safely, which includes wearing a respirator in specific areas. Mechanics are vital to keeping all our equipment and processes operating efficiently and safely all the time. Every day your duties will include a mix of repairs and preventative maintenance as needed. Our equipment includes conveyors, liquid filling equipment such as pumps and valves, and packaging machines, including balers and taping machines. You’ll do repairs when something is broken and also preventative lubrication, specialized cleaning, and any other maintenance required to keep the equipment running. At all times, you will work with your safety and that of others in mind while keeping a sense of urgency with response times.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of on-the-job mechanical experience (e.g., troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rebuilding motor drive systems, replacing/rebuilding gearboxes, understanding conveying systems, bearings, and drives).
  • Understanding of, and capability of using, all Maintenance Shop tools (Hammer, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Drill Press, Hydraulic Press, Bench Grinder, etc.).
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely (certification is not a requirement).
  • A complete high school education (High School Diploma or GED).

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of on-the-job electrical experience (e.g., reading and troubleshooting electrical schematics, working on circuits from 24VDC to 480VAC, troubleshooting inputs and outputs on a PLC circuit, understanding of relay logic circuits).
  • Some knowledge of PLC systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot any broken equipment to determine the issue and repair or replace it correctly and safely.
  • Perform maintenance on machines to prevent future downtime, including lubrication, specialized cleaning, or replacing worn-out parts on a scheduled basis.
  • Assist with facility maintenance by repairing issues and providing preventative maintenance, which may include plumbing, electrical, cleaning, or painting.
  • Manage priorities and tasks effectively to be productive while ensuring the facility operates as safely and efficiently as possible.
