About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and construction activities, including repair and maintenance of manufacturing machines. The role involves performing work based on issued Work Orders, which may include scheduled preventive maintenance, unscheduled breakdowns, and seeking guidance from supervisors or leads to ensure safety. The mechanic will examine equipment and machinery, troubleshoot issues, and recommend corrective repairs. A proactive approach to identifying malfunctions and performing repairs is essential for optimal safety and efficiency. The position requires strict adherence to safety rules, including proper use of PPE, lock-out/tag-out procedures, powered industrial vehicles, confined spaces, and electrical equipment. Responsibilities also include arc welding, gas welding, cutting, brazing, and the proficient use of various hand and power tools. The role supports new construction and remodeling of the facility, operates powered industrial vehicles, and reports any safety violations or equipment misuse. Maintaining a clean work environment through 5S procedures is also a key aspect of the job. Employees are responsible for complying with all Federal, Local, and State government regulations, LISI Aerospace policies, and HSE procedures, including attending all provided training and adhering to HSE policies and plans.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills
  • Experience and previous training in Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe computer systems
  • Familiarity with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation
  • Ability to read, interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints and written instructions
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Knowledge of basic shop math
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to handle and contain problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • Certification and or formal training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance highly desired
  • Knowledge of forklift operation and rig heavy equipment

Responsibilities

  • Performs work based on issued Work Orders, including scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs.
  • Examines equipment and machinery, troubleshoots issues, and recommends corrective repairs.
  • Takes a proactive role in identifying malfunctions or repairs to ensure optimal safety and efficiency.
  • Performs arc welding, gas welding, cutting, and brazing.
  • Uses a variety of tools including voltage tester, ammeter, megger, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Assists in all areas of new construction and remodeling of the facility.
  • Operates powered industrial vehicles to move parts and machines.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor or lead.
  • Follows all 5S department procedures including keeping floors clean, returning tools to proper locations, and organizing part pans.
  • Complies with all company and governmental safety, environmental, and hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
  • Wears personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.
  • Participates in the development and promotion of the HSE culture.
  • Supports other general maintenance activities as assigned.
