About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and construction activities, including repair and maintenance of manufacturing machines. The role involves examining equipment, troubleshooting, performing repairs, and assisting with facility construction and remodeling. Safety is a paramount concern, requiring adherence to all safety rules and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The position also includes housekeeping duties and compliance with all company and governmental regulations regarding safety, environmental, and hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills
  • Experience and previous training in Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe computer systems
  • Familiarity with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation
  • Ability to read, interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints and written instructions
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Knowledge of basic shop math
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to handle and contain problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures
  • Wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas

Nice To Haves

  • Certification and or formal training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance highly desired
  • Knowledge of forklift operation and rig heavy equipment

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical maintenance and construction activities, including repair and maintenance of manufacturing machines.
  • Executes work orders for scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs due to machine breakdowns.
  • Examines equipment and machinery, troubleshoots issues, and recommends corrective repairs to supervisors.
  • Identifies malfunctions and necessary repairs to ensure optimal safety and efficiency.
  • Performs arc welding, gas welding, cutting, and brazing.
  • Uses a variety of tools, including voltage testers, ammeters, meggers, hand tools, and power tools, safely and proficiently.
  • Assists in new construction and remodeling of the facility.
  • Operates powered industrial vehicles for moving parts and machines.
  • Reports safety violations, equipment misuse, and improperly performed work to supervisors.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards, including keeping floors clean, returning tools, and organizing parts.
  • Complies with all Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Attends all provided training and adheres to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives, measuring progress, and reporting results.
  • Suggests waste elimination initiatives related to the function and department.
  • Supports other general maintenance activities as assigned.
