About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician will work with various systems including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing, as well as electrical systems. The job involves hands-on work in a manufacturing plant environment, including diagnosing and fixing issues, fabricating parts, managing inventory, and maintaining a safe work environment. The role also emphasizes continuous learning and team collaboration.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior field related experience
  • Ability to pass required company tests; required to maintain and show proficiency during probationary training
  • Previous experience in electrical engineering or other related fields
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Solid understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing
  • Proficient in reading and writing
  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and cutting skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoots by locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by conducting routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems.
  • Troubleshoots motor and control systems.
