Maintenance Mechanic B
About The Position
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic B maintains, repairs, and overhauls plant equipment as directed. The role troubleshoots equipment downtime, makes necessary repairs, and determines root causes and corrective actions through downtime analysis. The mechanic follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety procedures while performing job duties. This position performs mechanical maintenance and repairs on production equipment and machinery, including welding and fabrication, emergency repairs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment assembly and testing, and instrumentation inspection and calibration. It also involves interpreting technical documents and promoting occupational safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of plant maintenance mechanic experience.
- Skill in fabricating items using a welder and sheet metal.
- Experience interpreting and acting on written and verbal job instructions and reports, technical manuals, and data.
- Knowledge of general maintenance activities and procedures, including preventive maintenance procedures and best practices.
- Experience operating company vehicles and equipment such as forklifts and man-lifts.
- Ability to learn new equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance and repair of production equipment and machinery using hand, gas-powered, and electrically powered tools.
- Weld and fabricate parts as required.
- Respond to emergency calls and make immediate repairs to prevent production downtime.
- Participate in machinery troubleshooting.
- Perform timely preventive maintenance checks and replace parts in accordance with the site PM plan.
- Assemble and reassemble equipment; examine and test mechanisms.
- Inspect and calibrate instrumentation.
- Test equipment and adjust calibration to ensure it functions within specified standards.
- Interpret technical documents, including prints and manuals.
- Promote occupational safety standards and give others feedback on their safety performance.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety procedures.
