We’re looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our Long Term Care community. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to maintaining safe, efficient, and well-functioning environments that support residents and care teams. Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of building maintenance, systems operations, and site safety within their assigned community. You will lead preventative maintenance programs, coordinate projects and contractors, manage maintenance requests, and ensure timely, high-quality service across all building systems. This role also includes supervising and developing maintenance team members, supporting budgeting and planning, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. As an ambassador of Baptist Housing, you will model servant leadership, build strong relationships with residents, families, and team members, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in building maintenance or a skilled trade (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building and systems maintenance
  • Experience with building automation systems and contractors
  • Leadership and team supervision experience
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices and building systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in long-term care or unionized environments is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all maintenance of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Plan and manage preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure timely repair and resolution of maintenance issues
  • Maintain clean, safe, and well-functioning environments
  • Lead site projects including scope, budgeting, and contractor coordination
  • Source and manage external vendors and service providers
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC and safety standards
  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and support to maintenance team members
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management
  • Schedule work and ensure effective coverage and service delivery
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in safety inspections, training, and incident investigations
  • Provide on-call support for emergencies as required
