About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the second shift Maintenance Lead ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Maintenance Lead will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. This position will be 2pm to 10pm. The general purpose of the Maintenance Lead will be to assist the Maintenance supervisor with overseeing the maintenance personnel on his shift, work duties, equipment break downs, training, and projects. Also performing their own maintenance responsibilities. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
  • Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body.
  • Occasionally required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell.
  • Occasionally lift 10 to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the other shifts about issues with equipment.
  • Check work orders and determine daily work schedule for the maintenance staff.
  • Maintain all production equipment.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance program
  • Maintain parts inventory and organization.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of plant equipment.
  • Train fellow maintenance employees.
  • Oversee daily activities of the maintenance staff.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
