About The Position

This role supports Total Process Reliability through Total Productive Maintenance, General Maintenance, and Project Management. The Maintenance Lead operates under little supervision, performing a variety of highly complex Maintenance projects. They work as a team with other Maintenance Technicians and Production Supervisors, assisting in all functions of the maintenance area as needed. This position leads and coordinates the work of other Maintenance Technicians to keep the facility running efficiently and safely. The Lead serves as a resource for complex technical questions and provides guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced Maintenance Technicians. They also provide feedback to the manager for performance reviews or areas of concern. The role is responsible for project leadership and direction of implementation for Maintenance projects and work orders, developing and managing projects from inception through completion, and requesting necessary items for project implementation. A key part of the role includes performing general sanitation of the maintenance department by organizing supplies, tools, etc., and keeping the area neat, clean, and safe. The Maintenance Lead will lay out, assemble, install, dismantle, maintain, and repair various processing and supporting equipment. They will record daily times on equipment, parts dispensed, and work orders using maintenance software to determine replacement parts and estimated costs of repairs. The role involves executing and evaluating current job plans, providing feedback, and developing future job plans. Maintenance and repair of electrical apparatus, pipe systems, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment are also key responsibilities. The Lead will build, fabricate, and weld special mechanical parts and devices, and calibrate pressure and temperature sensors. Programming AC drives, chart recorders, pressure sensors, and flow meters is also required. Maintenance and tests on utility equipment, performing PSM daily rounds, and conferring with outside vendors are part of the duties. The Lead mentors the operation of utilities, separator maintenance, and other critical equipment areas, and serves as backup for wastewater treatment responsibilities. Writing and monitoring guides on equipment using Microsoft programs (SOPs, PM schedules, training procedures) and repairing the physical structure of the facility are also included. Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment to reduce defects and diagnose root causes of problems, including PLC programs and hardware, is essential. The role involves monitoring operations and making suggestions to reduce costs. Finally, the position provides support on facility and process systems, including training, mentoring, and consultation, and ensures understanding and adherence to procedures for DNR/WDA/USDA/FDA/IMS/OSHA.

  • Record daily times on equipment, parts dispensed, and work orders to determine replacement parts and estimated costs of repairs using the maintenance software.
  • Execute and evaluate current job plans and provide feedback to maintenance manager or supervisor.
  • Field scope and develop future job plans.
  • Maintain and repair intake, processing equipment, distribution equipment, and supporting equipment, and all other processing equipment to keep equipment running efficiently.
  • Operate special maintenance equipment such as welders, grinder, jigs, etc.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers, wires, etc. to set up or repair equipment.
  • Read and understand electrical prints or flowcharts to verify correct set up and usage.
  • Request all replacement parts or equipment needed to keep production running efficiently.
  • Install and repair pipe systems, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment to keep facility and equipment running efficiently and safely.
  • Build, fabricate and weld special mechanical parts and devices to keep equipment running properly and efficiently.
  • Calibrate pressure and temperature sensors and related equipment to keep accurate readings.
  • Program AC drives, chart recorders, pressure sensors, and flow meters for control of motor at specific rates.
  • Perform maintenance and tests on utility equipment and update required logs.
  • Perform PSM daily rounds.
  • Confer and work with outside vendors for facility or equipment repair.
  • Lead and mentor the operation of utilities, separator maintenance and other critical equipment areas.
  • Serve as backup and/or aid with wastewater treatment responsibilities as needed.
  • Write and monitor guide on equipment using Microsoft programs such as SOPs, PM schedule, and training procedures to keep equipment running properly and efficiently.
  • Repair and maintain physical structure to keep facility and equipment running efficiently and safely.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair intake, processing equipment, distribution equipment, supporting equipment, and all other processing equipment to reduce defects and keep equipment running efficiently.
  • Analyze source of problems to determine root causes of problems and diagnose repeat breakdowns or malfunctions.
  • Confer with plant and quality management, and Associates to help diagnose problems with production or quality.
  • Troubleshoot and PLC programs and hardware to keep equipment running efficiently.
  • Monitor all areas of operations and make suggestions to reduce costs.
  • Provides support on facility and process systems to include training, mentoring, and consultation.
  • Understand and follow procedures for DNR/WDA/USDA/FDA/IMS/OSHA.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
