About The Position

EarthFresh, a leader in the produce industry since 1963, is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Maintenance Technician / Equipment & Inventory Coordinator for its Houston Packing Facility. This role is a full-time position within the Operations/Maintenance department. The position combines hands-on mechanical maintenance with the responsibility of overseeing the maintenance inventory room, including managing tools, parts, supplies, and equipment. The successful candidate will perform basic maintenance duties, support equipment reliability, maintain accurate inventory records, administer tool check-in/check-out procedures, and ensure the maintenance shop and inventory areas are clean, organized, and efficient. The ideal candidate will possess basic mechanical experience, 1-2 years of electrical aptitude, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience with barcode inventory systems is highly desirable.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of maintenance, mechanical, or related experience.
  • Basic electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a food processing, produce packing, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience managing a tool crib, maintenance storeroom, or inventory room.
  • Experience with barcode systems, inventory control software, or asset tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on packing facility equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and identify repair needs.
  • Support equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring equipment condition and ensuring operational readiness.
  • Serve as the primary administrator of the maintenance inventory room.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, consumables, and spare components.
  • Develop and manage a tool check-in/check-out system to ensure accountability for company-owned tools.
  • Track tool assignments, returns, repairs, and replacements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset records using Excel or other Maintenance Systems and barcode tracking systems.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment of maintenance supplies and stock items.
  • Organize and label inventory locations to improve accessibility and efficiency.
  • Track maintenance equipment and ensure proper storage and care of company assets.
  • Investigate and report inventory discrepancies, lost tools, or damaged equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance shop, inventory room, and storage areas.
  • Implement and maintain organization standards for tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Support ongoing improvements to inventory control and work processes.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Promote a culture of organization, accountability, and operational excellence.
