About The Position

The Maintenance Handyman is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Supervisor in performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the high-rise condominium’s common areas, systems, and equipment. The role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to ensure the building operates efficiently and provides a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents. Availability for On Call rotation is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years in building maintenance, facility management, or related, preferably in a high-rise or residential setting.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and general maintenance skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Good English communication skills to interact with residents, staff, and contractors professionally.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic certifications in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical work are a plus but not required.
  • Technical or vocational training in a maintenance-related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of the building’s systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and general facilities.
  • Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, painting, and repairing minor leaks.
  • Conduct regular inspections of common areas to identify and address any maintenance needs, including cleanliness and safety issues.
  • Assist with the upkeep and monitoring of mechanical systems, such as boilers, pumps, and ventilation.
  • Help troubleshoot minor issues with building systems and escalate more complex problems to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Help maintain cleanliness of common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, stairwells, and outdoor spaces.
  • Assist with landscaping and general exterior maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure that trash and recycling are properly managed and removed from the building according to schedule.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and in good working order.
  • Follow all building safety protocols and procedures, including OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in emergency situations by following established protocols and supporting the maintenance team during critical events, such as power outages or water leaks.
