About The Position

Environmental Management Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Foreperson to lead landscape maintenance crews and oversee the care of commercial properties. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate has strong landscape maintenance experience, proven leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and excellence.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of commercial landscape maintenance experience.
  • Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a crew with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Foreperson, Crew Leader, or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of horticulture and turf management practices.
  • Irrigation troubleshooting experience.
  • Pesticide Applicator License.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, motivate, and support landscape maintenance crew members.
  • Assign daily work activities and ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching and corrective guidance when needed.
  • Promote a positive culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Supervise and actively participate in daily landscape maintenance services, including mowing, edging, string trimming, pruning, weeding, mulching, seasonal clean-ups, and debris removal.
  • Monitor turf and plant health, identifying and reporting issues proactively.
  • Apply landscaping materials, fertilizers, and mulch according to company standards.
  • Conduct basic irrigation inspections and minor adjustments while reporting major concerns.
  • Ensure all properties consistently meet client expectations and company quality standards.
  • Serve as the primary field representative for assigned properties.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and enhancement opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with Account Managers regarding service updates, client requests, site conditions, and weather-related impacts.
  • Address client questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and attractive appearance at all assigned properties.
  • Safely operate and maintain commercial landscaping equipment, including commercial mowers, string trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, and utility vehicles.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and pre-trip vehicle checks.
  • Report equipment issues, repairs, and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Enforce OSHA guidelines and all company safety requirements.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, or hazardous conditions.
  • Accurately track labor, materials, and completed work.
  • Complete timesheets, inspection reports, work orders, and required documentation.
  • Utilize mobile applications, GPS tracking systems, and company software as required.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors regarding crew performance, customer feedback, and property conditions.
