About The Position

Under the direction of the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining the grounds and facilities at several company locations in the Fort Worth area, including the Joshua ranch. The position ensures that all facilities and grounds are kept in a safe, environmentally friendly, and professional manner, including waste removal. It involves performing routine and preventative maintenance on facilities, vehicles, and equipment, as well as coordinating with various departments and personnel, including community service and volunteers. The role also requires purchasing supplies and equipment, adhering to safety standards like OSHA requirements, and representing the organization with excellent customer service.

  • Must have a valid Texas drivers’ license and qualify as insurable driver on company insurance plan.
  • Must be able to pull a trailer (e.g. adoption trailer, horse trailer, flatbed) in a safe manner.
  • Regular exposure to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, bites, scratches, animal waste and moderate noise levels.
  • Regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, bend, kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance, up to 80 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job this position may be exposed to animal odors or airborne particles.
  • Exposure to chemicals and chemical fumes.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Position will both work indoors and outdoors with exposure to elements.
  • Drive company vehicles on a daily basis to other locations and vendors as needed.
  • Use power equipment on a daily basis to complete projects as assigned.
  • Climb ladders and other use other non-powered equipment frequently to complete projects

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the grounds, including mowing, irrigation and general upkeep of plantings, fences and building facades at several company locations in the Fort Worth area, including the Joshua ranch.
  • Ensures all facilities and grounds are maintained in a safe, environmentally friendly, and professional manner.
  • Ensures waste is removed from trash cans and grounds around company facilities.
  • Performs routine maintenance of all areas and assigned facilities as assigned by the Maintenance & Facilities Manager.
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Transports equipment and or animals between company locations, as assigned.
  • Purchases supplies and equipment as approved by management.
  • Adheres to highest safety standards; ensures the facility meets OSHA requirements.
  • Safely operates and maintains company vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintains and understands thoroughly the general equipment needed for the daily operations of company facilities.
  • Identifies and corrects safety issues promptly.
  • Assists Development Department with Gift in Kind Donations – picking up and unloading pallets, storing items.
  • Maintains workspace and supplies in a safe, neat and orderly manner.
  • Ensures equipment is properly and securely stored.
  • Represents the Humane Society of North Texas by providing excellent customer service and focus.
  • Protects the confidential information on customers, donors, community service and employees.
  • Reports to work at assigned start time; goes to/returns from breaks and lunch at assigned times; leaves work at assigned time.
  • Maintains accurate information and record keeping, to include vehicles, equipment, and facilities and maintenance program.
  • Coordinates community service personnel, to include time tracking and general coordination of community service program.
  • Coordinates volunteer activities when they are assigned to helping the maintenance department.
  • Coordinates special activities as directed by management.
