About The Position

The Maintenance Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s equipment, guest rooms, public areas, and building systems in safe and proper working condition. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to work orders, troubleshoots equipment issues, and completes general repairs throughout the property. The Technician works closely with Engineering and other hotel departments to resolve maintenance concerns efficiently while providing professional guest service.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other maintenance-related certifications are a plus but not required.
Previous experience in maintenance, engineering, construction, or a related field preferred.
Hotel Engineering or Maintenance experience.
Preventive maintenance experience in guest rooms or commercial buildings.
Experience responding to work orders and guest maintenance requests.
Basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance.
Plumbing and electrical repair experience.
Painting, drywall, carpentry, and general repair experience.
Basic knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs.
Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate solutions.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
Familiarity with basic HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Experience with work order or maintenance tracking systems.
Basic computer skills and radio communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to hear portable radio, fire alarms, machinery, and guests.
Ability to respond on portable radio to base station and guests.
Ability to inspect and maintain equipment.
Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying required to respond to service requests and repairs anywhere in the hotel or parking lot.
Frequent bending and kneeling required to perform inspections and repairs.
100% mobility required to respond quickly to emergencies; potential continuous standing may be required.
Climbing stairs (approximately 90 steps) up to 20% of an 8-hour shift.
Climbing ladders (approximately 8 feet) up to 10% of an 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces, and exterior areas.
Respond promptly to maintenance work orders with professional guest service.
Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical issues.
Execute general building repairs, including painting, drywall repair, caulking, and minor carpentry.
Inspect building systems and equipment to ensure proper operation and identify safety hazards.
Maintain Engineering work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Assist with emergency maintenance situations as needed.
Communicate maintenance status and completed work clearly to the Engineering team.
