About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel building and grounds and operating its equipment and mechanical and electrical systems. The role includes reviewing and prioritizing maintenance requests, diagnosing and repairing systems and equipment within the employee’s ability, identifying property maintenance needs, and carrying out ongoing and preventive maintenance. The engineer may solicit and assess contractor bids, oversee contracted work, coordinate with local inspectors to support code compliance, service the hotel pool, and maintain the building exterior when that work is not handled by a contractor.

Requirements

Knowledge of HVAC, including troubleshooting and servicing within their ability.
Skill in maintaining and repairing security hardware.
Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and the safety precautions needed to perform assigned duties safely.
Availability to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

Review maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule assignments.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning electrical and mechanical systems and equipment within their ability.
Inspect the property to identify potential and current maintenance needs.
Plan and carry out ongoing maintenance programs.
Solicit bids from contractors, evaluate proposals, and ensure contracted work is completed to specifications.
Coordinate with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
Service the hotel pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters.
Maintain the building exterior when the work is not performed by a contractor, including lawn care and painting.
