The Maintenance Engineer (ME) reports directly to the Administrative Director of Facilities (ADOF). The ME is responsible for maintaining the proper operation of all machinery and mechanical equipment. The ME is assigned preventative maintenance tasks via preventative maintenance (PM) program. The ME is responsible for completing preventative maintenance tasks on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and in some cases on a five-year frequency and is responsible to complete them on time. Tasks include life safety and utility criticality PMs that must be 100% complete based on the task frequency. PM assignments also include and are not limited to utility, fire and life safety equipment that cover an array of requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic controls, digital controls, boilers, chillers, tools, pumps, electrical systems, and steam generators. Additional requirements of the ME are the ability to following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications while troubleshooting malfunctions. The ME is responsible for snow removal and performs repairs on patient care equipment including but not limited to beds, wheelchairs, gurneys, and nurse call systems. The ME is required to respond to hospital wide emergency codes in an efficient manner following all organizational protocols as applicable to the engineering department.
