The Lead Maintenance Electrician Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and reliability of building infrastructure and industrial equipment. This role performs advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include working with electrical systems ranging up to 480V, diagnosing and repairing machinery and equipment, and installing electrical components and apparatus. The technician interprets and follows electrical codes, schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical specifications while utilizing hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. This position also provides leadership in ensuring preventive maintenance programs are completed efficiently and in compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for industrial equipment and facility systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years manufacturing, Engineering or related experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years' experience supervising / leading a 24/7 maintenance team.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to hold electrician's license.
  • Experience with PLC programming and automated machinery preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience of PLC programming is preferred.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining preventive maintenance programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduct for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage testers.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Detects malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as machine repairer, maintenance and tool maker, maintenance, to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards, using electronic test equipment and hand tools.
  • Replace electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
  • May push buttons and press keys on robot controller, teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
  • May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components.
  • Other duties as assigned.
