About The Position

The Maintenance Coordinator will ensure vehicles in 8Fleet’s Chicago market are ready to drive. This hands-on role schedules maintenance, manages repair shops and vendors, directs Fleet Specialists, and tracks vehicle downtime and repair status. The work involves spending time both in the lot and at repair shops, as well as using fleet software and maintaining vehicle records.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in fleet, automotive, or vehicle maintenance, such as in a shop, dealership service department, rental business, delivery fleet, or transit fleet.
• Working knowledge of vehicle systems and experience managing vendors.
• Comfort using fleet software; 8Fleet uses Fleetio, Samsara, and ServiceUp.
• Availability for a 24-hour operation, including some nights, weekends, and on-call work.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

• ASE certification or technician background.
• EV or hybrid experience.
• Experience leading a small team.

Responsibilities

• Own the preventive maintenance schedule for the market.
• Coordinate repairs and track each vehicle until it is back in service.
• Manage outside shops and vendors, from scheduling through invoice review.
• Direct the day-to-day work of the Fleet Specialist team.
• Track downtime and cost per vehicle, and keep maintenance records and inspections current.
• Take unsafe vehicles out of service and promptly escalate safety issues.
