We encourage you to apply to become a part of our team. The NC State Parks has a Maintenance/Construction Technician II position available. This role is responsible for hands on work maintaining grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment. Work includes, custodial tasks, boundary line clearing, routine maintenance, trail maintenance, trash collection, mowing and trimming, prescribed burn assistance and/or auto mechanics.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing grounds maintenance/landscaping.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • CPR Certification
  • Emergency Medical Responder Certification
  • Wildland Fire Suppression Certifications
  • Certified in S-112 Chainsaw Operations Training - perform hazardous tree assessments and if necessary, tree removal within the park.

Responsibilities

  • Operations: opening duties to include basic maintenance and cleaning of facilities
  • Groundskeeping: mowing, tractor operations
  • Trail building and trail maintenance to include footbridges, steps, tree hazard removal.
  • Facility maintenance: painting, carpentry, plumbing, air filter replacement, etc. on all buildings
  • Basic automotive and small engine care; cleaning, sharpening blades/ chains, changing oil, etc.
