Mech/Elec/HVAC/Night - Maintenance/Construction Technician I - Murdoch Developmental Center
About The Position
Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility in Butner, North Carolina, serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Plant Maintenance Section ensures the operation of the physical plant and facility infrastructure. This position supplements the departmental trades in maintaining the facility, occasionally assists with coverage for second- and third-shift operations, and sometimes independently supports shop procurement needs. The technician may also assist with maintenance repairs and other work for State agencies. The position is designated mandatory and requires reporting to or staying over during adverse weather events. Applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
- May require current EPA Type I, II, III, or Universal technician certification under Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in one or more areas of electrical, plumbing, or HVAC operations.
- Working knowledge of a wide range of tools and some types of electrical instruments.
- Valid driver's license.
- Two years of experience in a large maintenance organization.
Responsibilities
- Supplement departmental trades in maintaining facility infrastructure and physical plant.
- Occasionally assist in maintaining coverage for second- and third-shift operations.
