Maintenance/Construction Mechanic II - Carpentry - (Black Mountain Neuro Medical Treatment Center)
About The Position
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Mechanic II with a focus on Carpentry for the Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center. This role is crucial for maintaining the facility and its grounds, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff. The facility encompasses a large main structure, multiple cottages, and extensive grounds, requiring a broad range of maintenance and repair skills. The Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center serves adults with chronic and complex medical conditions co-existing with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders, providing specialized long-term care with a focus on quality of life and dignity.
Requirements
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be in good standing with the Health Care Personnel Registry and other licensing boards/agencies.
- Must adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated experience in general maintenance and repair work.
- Demonstrated experience in construction, carpentry and related activities.
- Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
Responsibilities
- Repair and construction of components necessary to keep the facility in a proper working condition.
- Cabinet making and hanging, carpentry work, masonry work, dry-wall installation, building partitions as needed, roofing, hanging doors and windows, building picture frames and other items for the comfort and well-being of the residents at this facility.
- General maintenance duties, as assigned.
