About The Position

The Maintenance Apprenticeship Program is designed to prepare highly talented, self-motivated individuals for future maintenance careers with AUMOVIO. The two-year apprenticeship offers AUMOVIO employees the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree in Advanced Manufacturing while gaining hands-on maintenance experience and professional development. During the program, you will work in a hands-on automotive manufacturing environment that allows learning through real-world application of education while on-the-job, including technical skills such as electrical, robotics, pneumatics, mechanical, Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs), and industrial troubleshooting. This program also includes manufacturing core exercises such as safety culture, visual workplace organization, lean manufacturing, problem-solving, and machine reliability. The Maintenance Apprenticeship program will work at the AUMOVIO New Braunfels, TX facility a minimum of 32 hours per week to maintain full-time employment status. The Maintenance Apprentice will apply formal education to on-the-job learning and implementation in an AUMOVIO work environment. The incumbent will be challenged with assignments and/or projects relevant to the assigned business unit. Maintenance Apprentice will receive semester and final evaluations of on-the-job performance to review current performance, goals, and development needs. Upon successful completion of the Maintenance Apprentice program, the incumbent will be eligible to apply for a Maintenance position at AUMOVIO New Braunfels, TX.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months of employment with AUMOVIO
  • Highly motivated for a future career in the field of Maintenance at AUMOVIO New Braunfels, TX
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in Advanced Manufacturing Associate's Degree program
  • Ability to work a minimum of 32 hours per week on an adjusted schedule while being enrolled as a full-time college student pursuing a degree in Advanced Manufacturing, with in-person classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Email)
  • Ability to read, write, speak English

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Excellent hand/eye/foot coordination
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach for 10+ hours per day
  • Ability to bend at waist and perform repetitive foot and hand action for 10+ hours per day
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work on a manufacturing shopfloor
  • Must wear company-provided ESD safety-toed shoes, smock, and other PPE in required areas
  • Sitting or standing for 10+ hours, reaching, and using hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, twist, turn, stoop for duration of 10+ hour shifts
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex machines and investigate malfunctions to root cause
  • Use schematics, machine specifications, manuals and standard operating procedures to determine tasks to be performed
  • Perform regular inspections of equipment, machinery and systems
  • Prevent breakdowns through schedule servicing
  • Follow workplace safety standards (OSHA guidelines)
  • Support efforts to meet line product DPMO, OEE, and Scrap goals and equipment MTBF goals
  • Participate in the advance process and quality planning (APQP) activities for new equipment
  • Be proactive and promote teamwork between the technicians and production operators
  • Interface; (support, assist, negotiate, consult) with: Engineers, peers, operators, supervision and management
  • Understand and comply with all procedures pertaining to a given work environment; assist in designing improvements to the work environment
