About The Position
The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County is seeking a self-motivated and hardworking individual for a Property Specialist position, which is being reclassified to Maintenance and Repair Worker III. This full-time, in-office position is located in Sanford, FL. The role supports and serves as a backup to the Building Operations Specialist, coordinating building maintenance and cleaning for three properties. Responsibilities include assisting with inventory management, performing housekeeping and custodial duties, and coordinating fleet maintenance for county vehicles and trailers. The position involves general repairs and modifications to facilities, maintenance of equipment and furnishings, and general labor tasks. Additionally, the role requires vehicle operation, assisting with housekeeping chores, and opening the facility on weekdays. This is an on-call position that may require work outside of normal hours during emergencies. The position requires the ability to use a desktop computer and state software programs, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 25 pounds over shoulders/head.
- Ability to stand for periods of 60-90 minutes.
- Knowledge and ability to use a desktop computer and appropriate state software programs.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
- Using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.
- Valid Florida Driver License.
- Willingness to physically come in the office to perform duties.
- Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
Responsibilities
- Supports and serves as a back-up to the Building Operations Specialist.
- Coordinates building maintenance and cleaning of three properties.
- Works with County maintenance staff as needed.
- Assists in ordering, receiving, tracking inventory, issuing, and maintaining material, equipment, and supply inventories.
- Assists in performing housekeeping and custodial assignments in all sites.
- Coordinates fleet maintenance for 30 county vehicles and three towable storage trailers.
- Receives, records, unpacks, stocks, and issues a variety of stored items.
- Checks incoming materials for quantity and quality against purchase orders, invoices, and packing slips, and reports discrepancies.
- Assembles, packs, and arranges all returned items.
- Performs general repairs and modifications to facilities, including installation and repair of roofs, ceilings, walls, doors, locks, flooring, shelving, plumbing fixtures, and other devices using common tools and equipment.
- Maintains all furnishings and equipment in Health Department facilities using common hand tools, power tools, and repair materials.
- Provides general labor assistance for various Health Department activities, such as delivering equipment, setting up displays, rearranging furniture, and erecting tents and canopies.
- Operates various vehicles owned by the Health Department, including vans, pickup trucks, and large mobile units.
- Assists in all housekeeping chores, such as cleaning restrooms and removing trash daily.
- Mops and vacuums floors as necessary.
- Restocks paper goods, soap dispensers, and hand sanitizers.
- Cleans break rooms, empties recycle bins, and removes cobwebs monthly.
- Assists in moving furniture and setting up conference rooms as required.
- Responsible for opening the 400 West Airport Boulevard facility by 07:00 am, Monday through Friday.
- Serves as secondary responder for non-business hour facility requirements, alarms, and emergencies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
