Maintainer (37.5 Hour)
About The Position
Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) is seeking nine (9) full-time Maintainer positions to join The Facilities Custodial Department. These positions will provide custodial services for both campuses located in Danbury, CT, playing a key role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of the campus grounds. The Facilities - Custodial Services Department is responsible for cleaning classrooms, bathrooms, and common areas, as well as trash and snow removal and other general maintenance duties. The role involves a wide range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of campus facilities, including snow removal to ensure safe passage for students, faculty, and visitors. Candidates must be prepared to work in various conditions.
Requirements
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
- Must be a current State of CT employee of the agency listed above for at least six (6) months of full-time service or full-time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language.
- Skills: interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to learn policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate, care for and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work.
- Ability to record keep.
- Must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility, visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class.
- May be required to lift moderate to heavy weights.
- May be required to use protective equipment such as respirators and safety goggles.
Nice To Haves
- Prior custodial experience.
- Commercial/industrial cleaning experience.
- Experience working in a large facility/multiple buildings.
- Experience operating, caring for & performing minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work.
- Experience performing simple record keeping.
- Proven experience installing bulletin boards, pictures, shelving, as well as move furniture.
- Experience with snow removal.
Responsibilities
- Provide custodial services for both campuses.
