The Mainframe Network Admin will manage, support, and modernize the mainframe networking environment. The role designs, configures, and supports mainframe network infrastructure, including VTAM, NCP, SNA, and TCP/IP, and troubleshoots session-level connectivity and session management using CA TPX, CL/SuperSession, and related tools. The administrator will lead end-to-end migrations of session management and networking tools to updated or consolidated platforms, maintaining session continuity and minimizing business disruption. This includes configuring session routing, security, and user access; planning, testing, and implementing cutover and rollback strategies; coordinating timelines, dependencies, and risk mitigation with vendors and internal stakeholders; monitoring session performance before and after migration; and maintaining configuration and procedure documentation. The role also ensures security, audit, and regulatory compliance and provides L2/L3 support through an on-call rotation.
