About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking a Mainframe Network Engineer for a 12+ month contract opportunity with a global financial institution. The role is based in Plano, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; or Jersey City, New Jersey, and requires working onsite at least three days per week. The engineer will build and operate network solutions for mainframe TCP/IP and SNA/APPN integrations, support high-availability business-critical systems, modernize network architecture, and advance automation to improve reliability.

Requirements

Experience supporting enterprise-scale networks with high availability and reliability requirements.
Strong foundational expertise in TCP/IP networking, including OSPF, EIGRP, and Layer 2 technologies such as VLANs and EtherChannel/Portchannel.
Strong understanding of packet trace analysis and multi-layer troubleshooting techniques.
Experience supporting SNA/APPN networking.
Working knowledge of switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, certificates, TLS/SSL, and REST APIs.
Experience using IBM Netview and IBM Omegamon automation and performance tools.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule with at least three days per week onsite.

Responsibilities

Engineer and operate network solutions supporting mainframe TCP/IP and SNA/APPN-based system integrations.
Optimize high-availability connectivity for business-critical, high-velocity transaction and batch-processing systems.
Modernize mainframe network architectures, including improvements to observability and telemetry.
Advance automation and AI-assisted operations to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and enhance network reliability.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues across routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, and mainframe network stacks.
Continuously improve network solutions to meet performance, capacity, resiliency, and cybersecurity compliance standards.
