About The Position

The Mail Clerk distributes and collects incoming mail. Collects and processes outgoing mail. Responsibilities include determining, affixing, and recording postage on registered mail and packages. The position relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks and works under close supervision.

  • High School or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Distributes and collects incoming mail.
  • Collects and processes outgoing mail.
  • Is knowledgeable of different types of mail, including global, priority, express, certified, and UPS.
  • Sorts and prepares mail as necessary.
  • Operates the postage meter, affixing the appropriate amount of postage on each item.
  • Assures each item has adequate postage to avoid delayed delivery, but monitors excessive postage amounts to keep expenses in check.
  • Maintains log of incoming and/or outgoing items according to department guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
