About The Position

This Magnet Program Manager will work with the ASLMC Director of Nursing Excellence to support the culture of excellence and its recognition. The role involves providing magnet consultation to nursing shared governance, collaborating on the Magnet Recognition Program application and implementation of process improvements, coordinating data collection for quality indicators, and providing education and leadership related to Magnet standards.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Health Care Administration.
  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in nursing which includes experiences in conducting evidence based practice, quality improvement projects and data analysis to support improvement in patient care.
  • Strong understanding of standards of practice, laws, regulations and guidance governing the conduct of nursing practice and performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated skill in the preparation of written documentation in support of regulatory or Magnet Recognition Program submissions.
  • Strong critical/analytical thinking and ability to communicate effectively with nurses at all levels.
  • Ability to interact on a scholarly level with professional staff and other Magnet Program Directors.
  • Demonstrates effective project management and time management skills, professional communications and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides magnet consultation to nursing shared governance at the site, including the Nursing Coordinating Council, the Nurse Practice Committee, Nursing Professional Development Committee and other nursing leadership to ensure goals of Magnet designation are accomplished.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to formulate a project plan and ensure completion of the Magnet Recognition Program application, written document submission, site visit and interim reporting within all required timeframes.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to implement process improvements that enhance performance outcomes and nursing evidence based practices.
  • Coordinates the collection of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) and nurse sensitive indicator data consistent with database and professional standards requirements and ensures timely reporting of outcome data to the Center for Nursing Research and Practice.
  • Validates that patient outcome data is disseminated, monitored and evaluated against evidence relative to state and national benchmarks and regulatory standards and all areas where nurses are providing direct patient care have identified indicators.
  • Provides mentorship and maintains expertise in state and national regulatory and nursing professional practice, Magnet Recognition Program standards and data requirements.
  • Collaborates with the System Sr Director of Nursing Operations to design, develop and provide education to Aurora sites regarding Nursing Shared Governance tenets and Magnet Recognition standards/application.
  • Attends system and site Magnet consortiums and shares information related to Magnet recognition processes and standards.
  • Provides leadership and direction to site Magnet Champions.
  • Develops and maintains a budget for Magnet Recognition Program activities.
