About The Position

The Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC machines to fabricate precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and specialized parts. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models, inspecting finished products, performing routine maintenance, and using precision measuring instruments. The Machinist will also work closely with engineering and production teams, maintain documentation, and follow safety procedures. Production runs may also be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a tool and die machinist in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices, metallurgy, heat treatment, and tool design.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Experience with both manual and CNC equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or apprenticeship certification preferred.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience (Mastercam, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Experience with die-making for stamping, injection molding, or progressive tooling.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and 5S principles.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, etc.) to fabricate precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and specialized parts.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to create or repair dies and tooling.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required tolerances and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and tooling inventory.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Run production parts as required.
