About The Position

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. is looking for responsible, energetic new team members to support our manufacturing process. Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., established in 1994, is headquartered in Bridgeville, PA, with manufacturing plants in Dunkirk, NY, Titusville, PA, and North Jackson, OH. Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate, including stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, gear steel, and aircraft-quality low-alloy steels for use in a variety of industries. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 2 to 5+ years of hands-on manual machining experience in a machine shop or heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven proficiency and hands-on experience operating a manual lathe.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining techniques including turning, boring, threading, and facing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, spatial awareness, and proficiency in shop mathematics and geometry.
  • Exceptional hand-eye coordination, high attention to detail, and expertise with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/technical school training or a completed industry apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely set up and operate manual machine tools, including manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinders.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical schematics, and blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
  • Select cutting tools and precisely calculate/adjust feeds, speeds, and depths of cut to shape raw materials into finished specialty steel components.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to ensure strict adherence to exact quality specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on manual machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and making minor mechanical repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area following all company and industrial safety guidelines.
