About The Position

Reads and interprets blueprints to plan the set up and operation of all types of machine shop tools. Plans, sets up and operates typical machine shop machine tools, producing parts to tolerances and company specifications. Uses typical machinist’s hand tools. Operates tool room machinery in a safe manner during the build process. Performs set up and testing of toolroom equipment under power, testing for mechanical difficulties, tracing to their sources and correcting problems. Makes repair parts if not commercially available nor available from company central inventory stores. Uses a full range of precision measuring and gaging tools to perform inspection before the start of a job. Performs repair, rebuilding, or overhaul work of manufacturing or service equipment from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, and written or verbal instructions. Frequently works with other tradespersons such as tool and die, maintenance, electricians, etc. Treats all other team members with respect and dignity. Performs other essential functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating machine shop tools.
  • Skill in using machinist's hand tools.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of tool room machinery.
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot toolroom equipment.
  • Capability to make repair parts.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring and gaging tools.
  • Experience in repair, rebuilding, or overhaul of manufacturing or service equipment.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, manuals, and instructions.
  • Experience working with other tradespersons (tool and die, maintenance, electricians).
