Machinist Trainee - 2nd, 3rd or Weekend
About The Position
MetalTek International provides metal component solutions to customers worldwide and employs nearly 800 people across five locations. The Wisconsin Centrifugal Division has served the Waukesha community for more than 75 years. Machinist Trainees work alongside experienced machinists to learn the operation and setup of a variety of machine tools, build machining knowledge and skills, and prepare for a Machinist position. Trainees may work second shift, third shift, or, where available, a weekend shift. They must be available for first-shift training for approximately four to six months. On- and off-site training or education may be provided as needed to develop trade knowledge.
Requirements
- Solid math skills.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Willingness to vary work hours to accommodate training.
- Strong desire to become a highly skilled setup machinist.
- Stable education and/or employment history.
Nice To Haves
- Background in industrial arts and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with experienced machinists and learn to operate and set up a variety of machine tools.
- Learn CNC machine operation, setup, and adjustment.
- Use precision measuring devices.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Complete on- and off-site training or education as needed to facilitate trade knowledge.
- Develop machining knowledge and skills in preparation for a Machinist position.
- Gain an understanding of shop routings, materials, fixtures, tooling, and locations.
